Alberta Shetland Lace Weight...drool

Now, this is yummy. The money order will be in the mail tonight and then I will be haunting the mailbox. This is a very fine 2 ply lace weight yarn that I have been lusting after. I found it online at Legacy Studio. Canadian no less! Woo Hoo! Thank you Laura for answering my e mail so promptly.
New additions to the side bar. My invite to Ravelry came and I have started to post there as "Suzanknits" as well. I understand there are still about 6252 people on the waiting list. I got my invite in about 2 weeks. How about that?
Then I joined a group I found there. Welsh knitters no less! Wait till my mothere sees Y Draig Gogh ( the red dragon) knits too!

Pashmina Ribbed Top

I have taken the plunge and am going to spoil myself. This project that I have started will be for me. Of course I will have to finish my oldest's vest and hubby's Steelers blankey before I'm finished LOL

When I say I am going to spoil myself I mean it. This pattern has been kicking around forever just waiting for me to buy the perfect yarn. Simple knit 3, Purl 2 rib. If you look in the lower right hand corner of the pattern you will see the v-neck. That's the one I'm going to make, with 1/2 sleeves. The yarn is...oh yummy... Pashmina by Lana Grossa. (22% Cashmere 78% Merino) It feels so luxurious I can't wait till it's done.

I also picked up a copy of Simply Knitting, a new (around here) magazine from Britian. And in it was a set of these pretty little stitch markers. I love them, so much nicer then using a small knotted strand like I normally do. I'm doing the main body in the round, so the markers are reminding me where the front meets the back. I'm going to do the body a bit longer too. I'm not as thin as I used to me and the last thing I want it to finish it and have part of my belly showing out the bottom. My days with crop tops are long gone.

Row 292 !!

Moving right along on the Celtic Lace Stole I did find one little knot in the first skein ( first tail). One skein took me all the way into pattern three and I bought four skeins..lolol looks like I am going to have more than enough to add the edging all the way around.
I found the "progress bars" on another web site. Thank you to Lickety Knit for providing them.
I have also finished another pneumonia prevention vest and I am on my fourth. It is good television knitting and is giving me a chance to use up some Canadiana I bought for $2.99 a skein at Len's Mills. Plus a little charity knitting is good for the soul. Ryleigh's sweater is on a hiatis right now. I am trying to figure out the math for these "perfect set in sleeves" I will get back to you on that.

Felting

Ok so this is my second attempt at felting. I'm not a master at it by any means and to be honest I'm not all that much of a fan. I mean to put so much work into making something big, just to shrink it? But still I try because I can't resist.

Started out with fun funky yarn and a skull pattern to make myself a knitting bag. I did it in one piece decreasing a bit at the bottom so it would sit flat. Originally the plan was to felt it and block it into a proper rectangle.
Here it is finished. The vase is there just to give you a size gage.I chucked the whole thing into my washer on HOT with a bit of soap. I was keeping an eye on it, scooping out sloating fibers but then got distracted so it went through a spin cycle. I hope all that fuzz didn't FUBAR my washer. I set it back to wash filled it up with hot and stood there, checking it and putting it back to agitate before it went to spin. All in all I think it agitated for at least 30 minutes. I got bored and called it quits at that point. This is it after felting. A bit fuzzy then I would have liked but I guess I could take a shaver to it. What was strange is that the strap didn't felt all that much. Wierd eh? I forgot to make holes for the straps so I was going to have to sew them on. Then hope they never rip out. But if I hammered grommets into it and then picked up some binder clips I can wrap the strap through those and it will hold tight. <What is really cool is if I run out of room, I can release the two centre grommets and that makes the bag wider. In the picture above you can see that I have it tight on one side and open on the other.

Now I had to figure out what I was going to do with it. Ran out to the grocery store and a light bulb came on when I was in the produce section. It's a Market Bag. The big trend now is to recycle you bags and bring cloth bags to the gorcery store and all. Well this is now my bag if I go to the outdoor market for fruits and veg. Or any kind of market for that matter.
Still not big on the felting but I like my bag. I really like the skull LOL

Why you should always take knitting with you!

Woe is me....
Yesterday I was on my way to pay my respects at a funeral home in Burlington, my cousin's husband passed away suddenly. I was thinking of her and had turned the radio off when suddenly I was aware that the engine didn't sound right. I tried to accelerate when suddenly the RPM's leapt and the car slowed down. I headed for the shoulder of the road. Zip zero it wouldn't move. I called Carl and he said," Oops that doesn't sound good." Thank goodness I had roadside assistance and the cel phone was charged. Long and short of it is the tow truck came and dragging my car dropped me off at the house and the car to the dealership. I am sick with apprehension. What is this going to cost me???? I knitted while I waited for the tow truck. It helped to calm me down.

Row 121 revisited....

O.K. I am back where I was yesterday. I had to go back to row 95. I knit like a mad woman and
am glad that is over. I didn't garter stitch the edges, as per the pattern, so it wants to curl but I plan on putting the edging all the way around so it won't matter.
I really enjoy knitting lace. I found this wonderful site Heirloom Knitting. It is a good thing I live without credit cards or I could get into some serious trouble* Smile* the temptation would be too great. Having said that, "hint" "hint" Birthday / Mother's day ideas abound. I have always wanted to knit a Shetland Shawl. I'll post my wish list later.

Damn damn......

I just looked at the picture of my knitting and I see a mistake. Woe is me! Damn. I didn't see it when I looked at the knitting because lace knitting is so wrinkly. Only when I smoothed it out to take the picture does the mistake show up. How much do you want to bet that the missing stitch happened there? Oh crap. There is nothing for it. It has to come out. It looks like I have to go back to around row 93. Sigh.......wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Row 121 Celtic Knot Stole

Progressing nicely.....I have almost finished one pattern repeat. I am up to the armholes on the back of Ryleigh's sweater.
This weekend I am going to finish sorting the "STASH" and decide what I am keeping.
