Summer Sun Beaded Bag

This is my Ravelry July Online contest entry. I am in a knitting contest group and we are to knit one item in a month. It is just for fun so I bead knitted with #8 Perle cotton (doubled) and #6 glass beads.
It is knit in two parts. The beads make it too heavy to knit all in one piece. Then I picked up the stitches for the flap and deacreased to a point.
It is plenty big enough for my cel phone.
The close up kinda washed out the blue in the beads.
It is fully lined as well and there is enough room to add sun screen, lip gloss, a car key and some mad money. What else couldyou possibly need?
I will post the pattern ASAP just in case anyone else would like to make one.

Queen Anne Lace Shawl

I needed a pink fix and last Wednesday the Summer Sale at London Yarns was on lace yarn. I caved. It was just a matter of time. So much for my yarn diet.
I found this scrumptous lace pattern on the web. Well, actually I found it on Ravelry first and it is free. Thank you Mario. Here I am on row 34.
This is what it will look like when I am finished. Oh goodie!

Update on Meg's Gansey

Well, I discovered that the yoke of Meg's gansey was too short. If I had continued in plain stocking stitch my row count would have been to gauge BUT I introduced a pattern WITH cables and eh voila the row count is to short. Sooooo I am adding another pattern repeat. I mean it is no big deal except I thought I would be working on the sleeves today..shucks

I have been spending a lot of time on Ravelry, it is totally addictive. It is exciting to be in a place where every click brings something new and everyone has the same "fibre" gene. I found this today.....

and downloaded the free pattern in a thrice. Gotta make one for this fall. I am looking for projects I can complete in a month. It is my "one-project-a-month-for-six-months-goal," besides the "other" knitting. {Why 6 months?? tell you later!!}

Anyway this looks like fun and it will be a nice show off piece. I especially like the way it was "finished "by "mintlatte." It is all in the finishing!

Alone again today and too gas poor to go anywhere. Carl will be gone until late tonight. Everyone is a tank of gas away. D#%* govenment anyway. I went to the library and picked up this to keep me occupied this afternoon. I can play it on my laptop while I knit on the aformentioned gansey.

I joined a knitting competition on Ravelry I have to knit something smallish and summery. It is just a fun thing (as if I didn't have enough to do). It has to be finished by the end of July. then there is the Auguest project and the KnitOlympics. I haven't decided on that one yet. It is all about keeping the mind and the hands busy.

Barbie sporting a shell and shorts.

Barbie is back with a peach shell and green wool shorts.
I have to sew on all the snaps and her wardrobe will be ready for a birthday party.

Thank you Pocahontas Barbie for your wonderful modeling and the Lewis Arts book for the pattern.

The patterns are clearly written and easy to follow. Leftover yarn is perfect for these clothes, very little was used.

A Knitter's Comment on Global Warming!

The audio can be very annoying, if that's the case turn it off. The video is quite amazing ....watch for the tree branches!

Maple Leaf Graph

A little flag waving here after all it is Canada Day or as we called it when I was growing up, "Dominion Day."

This graph was originally designed to be knit in white on blue background. Once upon a time there was this excellent hockey team...sigh...
